Owner Kehaulani Marzo Nielson has been a hula dancer her whole life. But in 2013 as her family grew, she sought out ways to upcycle her old vintage hula costumes that were left hanging in her closet. She started upcycling the costumes into a fun vintage fold over clutches, showed them to her friends and family, and they were a hit! She took them to every craft fair and pop up shop around town, and a business was soon born. Eventually, Kehau decided to develop original prints for Kahulale'a that celebrated Hawaii's people and place.
