Grammy-Nominated Singer-Songwriter, Kimié Miner to Headline 2021 Showcase

We invite you to be a part of Hawai‘i's biggest event of the year – our Mana Up 2021 Showcase on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 4:00pm HST. Join us as we highlight Hawai‘i’s rising entrepreneurs, up & coming musicians, and more! We're excited to announce our second mystery musical guest – Kimié Miner, Grammy-nominated producer, singer-songwriter, recording artist, music publisher and owner of Haku Collective who will headline our 2021 Showcase!

Kimié wrote and co-produced 4 albums includingKimié Miner (Contemporary Album of the Year, Nā Hōkū Hanohano awards), and most recently Hawaiian Lullaby. In 2016, she founded Haku Collective (Mana Up, Cohort 5), a full-service music, audio, and talent production group that supports Hawai’i-based music artists and features a full line of apparel and accessories inspired by her music and Native Hawaiian roots.

At Haku Collective, their mission is to build and sustain a thriving creative network telling the most authentic stories of Hawaiʻi through the power of music. During our 2021 Showcase, you'll get to discover the future of Hawaiʻi’s music, and catch performances by our islands' rising musical talent, or the "Artists to Watch" of Haku Collective. These young up-and-coming musicians are a new collective of young artists that Haku Collective has mentored through programs like its Melecraft Mentoring Program.

10 Questions with Kimié

Mana Up (MU): Role model when you were younger?

Kimié Miner (KM):  Fiji, the artist, was one of my first mentors in the music business when I was young.  I’ll never forget him telling me that the music business has nothing to do with music and everything to do with rights; protect your rights.

MU: In addition to running Haku Collective’s production and retail business, you offer an annual MeleCraft bootcamp – what is your favorite thing about mentoring young local artists?

KM: My mission is to help others find their authentic voice.  As we work with our mentees, I love seeing the smile on their faces as they discover themselves as young artists. Their wonderments and curiosity continually inspire me.

MU: One piece of advice for young, up-and-coming musicians.

KM: I’d tell them, “You don’t need everybody to like you, just be who you are.  When you have a clear vision and work hard, everything will happen just as it’s meant to.”

MU: Favorite career milestone

KM: Presenting at the Grammys in 2020 before the pandemic was pretty awesome and is easily one of my favorite career milestones.

MU: Top 3-5 favorite House of Mana Up products

KM:   In no particular order...1) Aloha Modern x Haku Magic, Hawaiian Lullaby Beach Blanket; 2) Coco Moon x Haku Magic, You Are My Sunshine Security Blanket; 3) Mohala Eyewear, Kaimana Rose Gold Sunglasses; 4) Ao Organics Hawaii, Rose Gold Tanning Oil

MU: Why is “supporting local” important to you?

KM: I’m proud of who I am, my heritage and where I come from; we live in the most beautiful place in the world.  I want to represent and celebrate that with the clothes I wear and the products I use.

MU: Best beach in Hawai‘i

KM: Mākaha

MU: Go-to restaurant for local grinds on the island

KM: With three babies, we don’t get out much but I love to pick up a carne asada burrito from Thyda’s Taco Truck in Kaka’ako.

MU: Favorite outdoor weekend activity with the ‘ohana

KM: I love going to the beach and surfing with my ‘ohana, it rejuvenates my soul.

MU: What’s next for you and Haku Collective?

KM: Our aim at Haku is to be the world’s premiere Artist Agency and Music Group for Hawai’i.

MU: What are you most excited about being part of this year's Mana Up 2021 Showcase?

KM: I’m excited to learn more about this year's Mana Up cohort and all their amazing products.  I’m especially ecstatic to share Haku’s talented rising artists with all of you.
