Aloha Modern
Aloha Modern was founded by Mālia Kaʻaihue and Reyn Mukawa as a creative outlet rooted in their love for Hawaiʻi and its stories. What began as a pau hana passion project quickly grew into a lifestyle brand grounded in cultural authenticity and design.
Kaʻaihue, a cultural strategist, and Mukawa, a community-focused architect, saw a gap in the market: locals wanted designs that reflected them—not just tourist souvenirs. Their products—ranging from round towels and totes to home goods and apparel—pair striking island visuals with moʻolelo (stories) that give each piece deeper meaning.
Today, Aloha Modern connects with customers in Hawai‘i and beyond, especially in Japan, offering modern heirlooms that celebrate place, identity, and legacy.
