Laha‘ole Designs: Unique Hawaiian Jewelry Rooted in Culture

Laha‘ole means rare, choice, and unique — a perfect reflection of the handcrafted jewelry created by Native Hawaiian designer Tanya Uyehara. Born and raised on the island of Oʻahu in a family of craftsmen, musicians, hula dancers, and artists, Tanya has always been surrounded by creativity and the natural beauty of Hawai‘i.

In 2013, while on maternity leave with her fourth child, Tanya began experimenting with jewelry-making as a way to create meaningful Christmas gifts for her nieces. What started with a simple soldering class grew into a passion for shaping metals and designing jewelry that tells a story.

Unlike mass-produced pieces, Laha‘ole Designs jewelry is intentionally crafted to be both beautiful and culturally significant. Each design highlights native Hawaiian flowers, honors generational stories, and celebrates Hawai‘i’s heritage. Tanya creates with heart — dedicating every piece to the people she loves and the islands that inspire her.

Today, Laha‘ole Designs has become a beloved Hawaiian jewelry brand, known for connecting wearers to the culture, traditions, and natural beauty of Hawai‘i. Every necklace, bracelet, and earring carries a story — rare, choice, and unique, just like its name.
