ABOUT THE EVENT

Mana Up is back this year with its award-winning livestream, live from Bloomingdale’s in Honolulu on Thursday, November 3. The presenting sponsor is King’s Hawaiian – the sweet bread company founded by Robert Taira in Hilo in the 1950s that has since scaled into a globally recognized brand. Mana Up is also partnering with key sponsors Hawaiian Airlines, Central Pacific Bank, Subaru Hawai‘i and Hawaiian Electric Industries (HEI) to bring the 2022 Showcase to a global livestream.

Building on the success of past years - last year’s show earned two Telly awards and over 125,000 viewers - the Mana Up livestream will take place via Facebook and YouTube this November. The ninety-minute live-streamed show will highlight 11 Hawai‘i entrepreneurs who will share their stories in three-minute “pitches” – including those from a Maui-based traditional Hawaiian lei maker and a second generation modern aloha wear designer.

Showcase Features

As an accelerator program exclusively for Hawaii-based companies and with the mission of expanding the State’s economy to create jobs for locals, Mana Up hosts its showcase as an annual celebration of local businesses. Features include:

Incredible Untold Stories: In a weaving of entrepreneur pitches filmed from across the Hawaiian Islands with live interviews and performances, the Mana Up showcase highlights untold stories in a travel-show style format with the excitement of a live event.
Performance award-winning singer and songwriter, Paula Fuga: The livestream will feature a live performance by Paula Fuga! Weʻre so excited to see her bring down the house.
Host Tumua Tuinei: Meet one of Hawai‘i’s hottest new comedians who will co-host with Mana Up Co-founder Meli James.
Emerging Musicians & Vote for your Favorite: Aligning with its mission to highlight Hawai‘i’s emerging talent, Mana Up is partnering again with Haku Collective, the local talent production company founded by Kimié Miner. Together, they will provide a platform for young, rising artists to showcase their musical talents on a larger, elevated stage. The audience will have the chance to vote for their favorite, and the winning artist will be awarded an opportunity to perform with the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra.

The large production is a collaboration of many organizations, bringing together event partners like King’s Hawaiian, showcase partners Hawaiian Airlines, Central Pacific Bank, Subaru Hawai‘i and Hawaiian Electric Industries (HEI), and accelerator title partner Kamehameha Schools and our program partners, as well as 17 featured small businesses and musicians, more than 30 Mana Up alumni companies, RKT Media, Hawaii News Now, and many more.

First Insurance Company of Hawaii and Hawaii Dental Service will join the showcase as Advertising Partners. Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water will join the showcase as an Event Partner. The 2022 Showcase will also present a $5,000 People’s Choice cash prize to the crowd’s favorite entrepreneur presented by Hawaiian Host Group. The Emerging Artists to Watch feature is presented by Vertaccount.
