ABOUT THE VIRTUAL EVENT
Did you know that Hawai‘i is the only state in the U.S. with a climate appropriate for commercially cultivating the tropical fruit tree? Meet Mānoa Chocolate founders Dylan and Tamara Butterbaugh who are growing Hawai‘i’s cacao industry! They will take you on a behind-the-scenes tour of their chocolate factory tour in Kailua and take you through a fun yet informative tasting. You’ll enjoy the craft chocolates featured in their Flavors of Hawaii treasure box, which includes bars inspired by ingredients authentic to our islands, from lilikoi (passion fruit) to pa‘akai (sea salt).
To create this collection, Mānoa Chocolate didn’t need to look any further than the local farmers market to find inspiration. Whether it was brought here by the ancient Polynesian settlers as a canoe plant, or as a commodity by traders from the East and West, each ingredient comes with its own unique story.
Behind the Brand:
Mānoa Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory focused on producing quality dark chocolate in Kailua, O‘ahu. Since 2010, their goal has been to showcase the unique flavors and characteristics of cacao through direct trade of single origin beans from around the world and across the Hawaiian Islands.
